Day 12 - From Zadar to Zagreb
29.06.2019
32 °C
Ali woke up at around 4.00 in the morning because Titus was crying. She couldn’t resettle him and didn’t want him to wake up the girls as he was sleeping in their room, so she took him back into their bed. He took about an hour to settle, and as she was just falling back to sleep again she heard what sounded like the city getting bombed. As there was no rain (and hadn’t been any rain for the entire trip in Europe so far) a massive thunderstorm was not the first thing she thought of. However, as the storm got closer it became fairly obvious what it was! It eventually was right above us, with lighting and thunder only a couple seconds apart and it was LOUD! All of a sudden, it started pouring. Auke didn’t wake up until the rain started which was at around 5.30am. Australia, Zadar can give you a run for your money with their thunderstorms!
Thankfully the rain stopped and the storm went away, as today was the day where we were leaving Zadar and were going to have to walk all our luggage to the bus terminal.
We spent the morning tidying up and packing, and then took the short walk. We boarded our bus to Zagreb and got settled in - it was a 3 and half hour bus trip.
The bus trip was once again beautiful, with lots of land and mountains.

After what seemed like forever (because Titus was not a happy man), we arrived into Zagreb at around 2.30pm. From here we were going to have to try find tram tickets and juggle all our suitcases, car seats, pram etc onto the tram and then still have to walk to find our apartment. We decided a taxi was going to be a lot easier, so we managed to find one that could fit our luggage and we made the short drive to our new apartment.
We got settled in and Titus went for a nap. We then headed out to find the Museum of Illusions at about 4.00pm. This was a really cool museum with optical illusions and little wooden games and puzzles. The girls absolutely loved it!

After this we tried to find a place for dinner which we had previously found in google. As we couldn’t find it straight away, we decided to go somewhere else’s. At around 5.00pm we ordered drinks and asked for a menu, and they handed us the lunch menu! Once again, people in Europe must eat dinner really late (remember in Italy the pizza places didn’t even open until 7.30!). We decided to skip the lunch menu and just have our drinks, and keep looking for the place we originally wanted to go to.

Once we found it, we all ordered our meals. Lana got chicken wings, Mila got potato croquettes, Ali got chicken and Auke got ribs. We also ordered an extra plate of veges to make up for our lack of them on the other days! Ali got something called a hipster cider, and Auke went for one of the in-house lagers which was amazing. Ali held Titus (because he was crying) while Auke ate, and then we swapped.

We headed home, had showers, and went to bed.
